The current Recommended Essential Equipment for BLS and ALS Ground Ambulances represents a consensus by six organizations (AAP, ACS-COT, ENA, EIIC, NAEMSP, & NASEMSO) all of which appointed members to a joint task force to assist with defining the standard for ground ambulances in the United States. The 2020 Joint Policy Statement was published online on April 9, 2021 in Prehospital Emergency Care.

    Request for Ambulance Inspection

Regulation adopted by the State Board of Health has been filed and approved by the Secretary of State concerning the inspection of ambulances, air ambulances or agency’s vehicles prior to being placed into service. The regulation now allows under certain circumstances services the ability to place vehicles into service prior to an inspection by the Division.

NAC 450B.640 has been amended to include a service to request such an inspection at least 10 business days before placing an ambulance, air ambulance or agency’s vehicle into service. It provides the Division that it may authorize a service to operate an ambulance, air ambulance or agency’s vehicle that has not been inspected for not more than 60 days if the service attests that the ambulance, air ambulance or agency’s vehicle complies with applicable regulations.

If at the time of inspection, the Division identifies any deficiency’s, the Division may order the service to immediately remove the ambulance, air ambulance or agency’s vehicle from service. Once the deficiency’s that have been identified are corrected and the reinspection fees are paid, the Division will conduct the reinspection. If upon reinspection, an inspector determines that a violation has not been corrected, the Division shall impose against the service an administrative penalty of $500 for each violation that has not been corrected.
