This program is funded through the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, National Comprehensive Cancer Control Program
which assists Nevada in supporting the Nevada Cancer Coalition to fight cancer in our state.
The Comprehensive Cancer Control Program at
the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health is funded through
the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (grant
CDC-RFA-DP12-120502CONT13). The goals of the Comprehensive Cancer Control Program as outlined by the CDC align with the Healthy People 2020 goals:
- Reduce the age-adjusted annual rate of cancer mortality per 100,000 population (Healthy People C-1).
- Increase the proportion of women who receive a breast cancer
screening based on the most recent guidelines (Healthy People C-17).
- Increase the proportion of women who receive a cervical cancer
screening based on the most recent guidelines (Healthy People C-15).
- Increase the number of central, population-based registries
from the 50 States and the District of Columbia that capture case
information on at least 95 percent of the expected number of reportable
cancers (Healthy People C-12).
- Reduce the female breast cancer death rate (Healthy People C-3).
- Reduce the death rate from cancer of the uterine cervix (Healthy People C-4).
- Reduce invasive uterine cervical cancer (Healthy People C-10).
- Increase the percentage of reporting sources (facilities) that submit data electronically to the central registry to 60%.
- Increase age-appropriate screening prevalence for breast and cervical cancer to 84% and 90% respectively.
- Decrease the incidence rates of late-stage breast and cervical cancer diagnosis (1% breast and cervical).
