Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementia (Brain Health)
Partners from all over the world are joining
forces to create friendlier communities for people with dementia and improve
their lives. In
Nevada, there are more than 49,000 people over 65 living with
Alzheimer's disease. That number is
expected to increase to 65,000 by 2025, making Nevada one of the
fastest-growing places for this problem.
Even
though some people have Alzheimer's, they're still important members of our
community. They go shopping, eat out, work, and do all sorts of things just
like anyone else. That's why Nevada is working on something called the State of
Nevada action movement. The goal is to help people understand what dementia is
all about and to create a community where everyone feels supported, no matter
what. The aim of this program is to help everyone in our community learn about
dementia, how it affects people, and how each of us can help make things better
for those living with dementia.
