Early Hearing Detection and Intervention - Boards/Commissions


Nevada Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program staff participate in a variety of Boards, Commissions, and Committees to provide EHDI program information on its current activities, hearing screening statistics, collaborative efforts with partners/stakeholders, and future program directions.

 

    Nevada Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Stakeholder Committee -

     The EHDI Stakeholder Committee is administered through the Nevada EHDI Program. The purposes of this committee are as follows:

    • Promote the purpose of the Nevada Early Hearing Detection and Intervention Program, which is to ensure all children in Nevada are screened for hearing loss at birth and those identified with hearing loss receive timely and appropriate audiological, education, emotional, and medical intervention.

    • Work towards implementation and promotion of the Joint Committee on Infant (JCIH) Hearing guidelines.

    • Provide assistance, advice, and recommendations to Nevada EHDI as it complies with its HRSA and CDC grant-required goals, objectives and activities, and abides by state statutes.

    Committee membership includes:

    • Nevada EHDI Staff                    • Audiologists

    • Nevada Hands & Voices             • Physicians

    • Individuals who are DHH           • Early Intervention Services

    • Parents

      Interagency Coordinating Council (ICC) -

      The ICC is administered through the Nevada Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part C Office. An EHDI representative attends ICC meetings and provides program updates and efforts. EHDI is not a formal member of the ICC.

      Nevada Commission for Persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing or Speech Impaired -

      The Commission is administered through the Nevada Aging and Disabilities Services Division. An EHDI representative attends Commission meetings and provides program updates and efforts. EHDI is not a formal member of this Commission.

      Nevada Newborn Screening Advisory Committee (NSAC) -

      The NSAC is administered through the Nevada Newborn Screening Program as part of the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory. The EHDI Coordinator is a formal member of this committee.

      Maternal Child Health Advisory Board (MCHAB) -

      The MCHAB is administered through the Nevada Bureau of Child, Family and Community Wellness. An EHDI representative attends MCHAB meetings as needed and provides program updates and efforts. EHDI is not a formal member of the MCHAB.
