Close contacts
Includes, but is not limited to; babysitters, daycare workers, healthcare providers, friends, and other children.
Cocooning
The immunization of family members and close contacts of a newborn.
Family Members
Includes, but is not limited to; mother, father, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Herd Immunity
Resistance to the spread of infectious disease in a group because susceptible members are few, & immunized members are the majority making transmission from an infected member unlikely.
Post-partum Cocooning
Immunizing moms and dads with Tdap vaccine in postpartum hospital units.
