    PREP General Information

The Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP) program supports Personal Responsibility Education Programs replicating evidence-based effective program models which scientific research indicates changes behavior by delaying sexual activity, increasing condom or contraceptive use for sexually active youth, or reducing pregnancy among youth. In Nevada, implementation of evidence-based, medically accurate, and culturally competent education programming includes the following three adulthood preparation topics: adolescent development, healthy life skills, and healthy relationships. The PREP Program serves disproportionality impacted youth ages 13-19.

      SRAE General Information

The Division of Public and Behavorial Health (DPBH) is responsible for the administering the Nevada Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Program (SRAE). The Program is funded through Title V State Sexual Risk Avoidance Education Grant Program, of the Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) of the Administration on Children, Youth and Families. The Title V State Sexual Risk Avoidance Education (SRAE) Grant Program supports funding to states and territories for them to provide education to youth that normalizes the optimal health behavior of avoiding non-marital sexual activity. Title V state SRAE programs are designed to teach youth benefits associated with:

      • personal responsibility
      • self-regulation
      • goal setting
      • health decision-making
      • focus on the future
      • preventing youth risk behaviors such as:
        -underage drinking
        -illicit drug use
SRAE works with community partners to educate youth on the optimal health behavior of avoiding non-marital sexual activity and other risky behaviors. The SRAE Program serves disproportionately impacted youth between ages 10 and 19, including: youth living in under resourced regions, areas with high rates of teen births, and STIs, culturally underrepresented youth populations, youth in adjudication systems, in or again out of foster care, victims or trafficking, and runaway and youth experiencing homelessness.
