Obesity Prevention Program

The Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health, Chronic Disease and Health Promotion Section is committed to helping Nevadans with strategies for overweight and obesity prevention. The good news is that recent scientific studies show that losing five to seven percent of body weight (i.e., 10-15 pounds for a 200 pound person) will help people live longer and healthier lives.  Losing a modest amount of weight by getting 30 minutes of physical activity five days a week and making healthy food choices will help prevent chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease disease, stroke, obesity and high blood pressure.
