Resources for Immigrants who wish to apply for Licensure to engage in Radiation Therapy or Radiologic Imaging
Nevada Law requires each state regulatory body to create an online resource for immigrants that provides information on how to obtain a license to practice each occupation or profession which the regulatory body oversees. This is the page for the licenses and registrations regulated by the Radiation Control Program: Registered Radiologist Assistant, Nuclear Medical Technologist, Radiologic Technologist, Radiation Therapist, Mammography, Computed Tomography, or Fluoroscopy.
Key Points
Below are some key points for immigrants applying for a Registered Radiologist Assistant, Nuclear Medical Technologist, Radiologic Technologist, Radiation Therapist, Mammography, Computed Tomography, or Fluoroscopy licensure and/or registration in Nevada:
- You do not have to be a United States citizen.
- Your immigration status does not matter.
- You do not need a Social Security number, except for Mammography, but you must provide an alternative personally identifying number such as an individual taxpayer identification number when completing an application.*
*Note: A Social Security number or alternative personally identifying number, including an individual taxpayer identification number, provided to RCP for licensing purposes is confidential and is not a public record for the purposes of Nevada Revised Statutes Chapter 239.
To obtain a license in the State of Nevada, you must first become certified within that field. To become certified in the above fields, go to the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, American Society of Radiologic Technologists, or The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists for further information. Once you obtain the needed qualifications, as noted above, go to the Radiation Control Program Technologists Application Program web page to apply for licensure and for information on additional licensure requirements.
If you need any assistance or have any questions regarding licensure with the Technologists Application Program, send an email to radiationcontrolprogram@health.nv.gov.
