FACILITY KITCHEN AND POOLS


FOOD PERMITS IN HEALTH FACILITIES:  

The Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance (HCQC) permits food establishments within Nevada licensed medical and non-medical health facilities in accordance with NRS (Nevada Revised Statutes) Chapter 449 Chapter 446 and with NAC (Nevada Administrative Code) Chapter 449 and Chapter 446.  A Health Facility licensed for more than 10 residents/clients/beds must apply for a commercial food establishment permit through the Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance.  

POOLS AND SPAS IN HEALTH FACILITIES:  

Swimming pools and spas within Health Facilities regulated by the Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance (HCQC) are required to obtain a permit per NRS 444 and NAC 444.100

  • Licensing and Applications
    • To apply for a permit to operate a new pool or spa within a Health Facility or remodel an existing permitted pool or spa:
      • Obtain a swimming pool and spa plan review application 
        • Submit your application, fees, required plans, specification, and supporting documents to the Attention of Program Manager at:
          •  Division of Public and Behavioral Health (DPBH)
          • Environmental Health Section (EHS)
          • 4150 Technology Way Ste. 101

      • After plans are reviewed by DPBH and approved, all necessary on-site construction inspections will commence.
      • DPBH will release the pool or spa after the on-site inspection(s) confirms all requirements are met.
      • Following the release by DPBH-EHS, you will need to contact the appropriate DPBH-EHS office at least one week in advance of the day you wish to open (North Office at 775-684-1030; South Office at 702-486-6515)
      • An Environmental Health Specialist with the DPBH-EHS will conduct an on-site operational inspection and provide a pool or spa permit application.
      • You may not operate until you have completed the permit application and have submitted your annual permit fee to the DPBH-HCQC.
      • The permit will be sent to you from the DPBH-HCQC.
