Emergency Medical Systems (EMS) Overview


Mission

The mission of the Emergency Medical Systems program is to promote and support a system that provides prompt, efficient and appropriate emergency medical care, ambulance transportation and trauma care to the people of Nevada.

    Strategy

    To support this mission it is necessary to provide technical assistance, consultation, training and regulatory oversight in a consistent and timely fashion. To accomplish its mission the Emergency Medical Systems program maintains three regional offices that provide these services and monitoring of training programs to those involved with the EMS System and the public.

      Background

      The Emergency Medical Systems program, as authorized in NRS 450B inclusive, establishes and enforces standards for the provision of quality out of hospital emergency medical care, the operation of ambulance services, certification of EMS personnel, licensure of attendants and the delivery of trauma care.
