COVID-19 Testing for Hawaii Passengers

A negative COVID-19 test is required if you are traveling to Hawaii but is not required for other domestic travel. In Southern Nevada, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (UMC) is one of the labs approved for those traveling to Hawai'i. Hawai'i requires passengers to be physically present at one of their approved labs for their testing. The test results are typically emailed to you, therefore you do not need to be present to receive your results. Schedule your COVID-19 test at umcsn.com/Travel.  Hawai'i has three Digital Health Pass Partners, AZOVA, CLEAR and CommonPass. Passengers can utilize any of the three approved Digital Health Pass Partners to link either your proof of vaccination or negative COVID-19 test.

While passengers can get a COVID-19 test at the Reno Tahoe International Airport through WellHealth, they are not one of Hawai'i's travel partners. Passengers desiring to travel to Hawai'i will have to take a COVID-19 test at a lab approved by Hawai'i. If you are traveling to Hawai'i from the Northern Nevada area and need to take a COVID-19 test that is on the approved list of Hawaii's trusted travel partner's, please check local pharmacies and double check with Hawai'i's list of trusted travel partners.

Southwest Airlines and the State of Hawai'i have partnered together and now offer Hawai'i Pre-Clear which allows eligible passengers to be cleared at their departure gate and bypass Hawai'i airport screening upon arrival. To be considered for Hawai'i Pre-Clear, make sure you meet the State of Hawai'i's travel requirements and confirm your documents have been approved. Each traveler over the age of 18 must have a separate Safe Travels account. Each child or dependent must be listed on the guardian(s) accounts. It is required to bring either a paper copy of your negative COVID-19 test results of vaccination card along with any other required documentation for the Hawai'i Pre-Clear service.

As of November 8, 2021 the State of Hawai'i modified their travel restrictions for those traveling to Hawai'i by adding the Vaccination Exception Program. This program is for fully vaccinated passengers and can allow for the mandatory quarantine period to be waived. In order to see if you qualify for the Vaccination Exception Program you will need to create an account in Safe Travel's Hawai'i, enter the details about your trip, upload your vaccination documentation, then sign the relevant paperwork. Prior to departing for Hawai'i, you will need to complete the online health questionnaire.

International travelers who are traveling to Hawai'i are required to present their vaccination record and negative COVID-19 test results prior to boarding their flight to Hawai'i. The negative COVID-19 result must be within one day of boarding the flight to Hawai'i which will be monitored by the airlines.

U.S. citizens flying to Hawai'i from an international destination have two options: provide vaccination record and a negative COVID-19 test taken within 1 day of boarding the plane to Hawai'i or if not vaccinated, provide a negative COVID-19 test result within one day of boarding flight to Hawai'i.
