2022 Nevada Palliative Care Awareness Day and Advance Directive Workshop


On Nov. 18, 2022, the Nevada Palliative Care and Quality of Life Advisory Council will present the first annual Nevada Palliative Care Awareness Day. This event will feature speakers and sessions designed to inform both the public and health care providers about the goals, ethics and benefits of palliative care. Morning - sessions for health care professionals

Health care professionals will have an opportunity to learn about the current trends in palliative medicine from four Nevada experts. CME/CEU credits are available thanks to Project ECHO; all sessions will be available for online-only attendees and will be broadcast between the Las Vegas and Reno locations for in-person attendees.

9 a.m. - Palliative Care in Clinical Practice. Presented by Libby Krayk, MSN, APRN (in-person in Reno)

10 a.m. - Goals of Care in Complex Palliative Patients. Presented by Dr. Kelly Conright (in-person in Las Vegas)

11 a.m. - Ethics in Palliative Care Practice. Presented by Mary-Ann Brown, MSN, RN (in-person in Reno)

12 p.m. - Advanced Directives and POLST. Presented by Dr. Clevis Parker (in-person in Las Vegas)

Afternoon - sessions for the public

In the afternoon, members of the public are invited to learn about palliative care and advance directives and to meet with professionals to receive free advance directive completion services. Refreshments will be provided starting at 12:30 p.m.

1:30 p.m. - Palliative Care and Advanced Planning: What is it? Why should I do it? Presented by Veneta Lepera, RN, BA, BSN (in Las Vegas) and Mary-Ann Brown, MSN, RN (in Reno)

2 p.m. - Advance Directive Completion Assistance. All documents will be provided. Bring your state-issued identification.
