Changes to Nevada EMS Training Requirements
Regulation adopted by the State Board of Health concerning who is eligible to attend Paramedic training has been changed. Prior to changing the existing law, one must first have been Nevada State certified at the Advanced Emergence Medical Technician level before entering into a course of training for Paramedic.
The State Board of Health has now changed the requirements so that a State of Nevada certified Emergency Medical Technician now may enter a course of training for Paramedic. The change also provides that a person who is not certified in the State of Nevada as an Emergency Medical Technician before the first day of training for certification as an Advanced Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic is ineligible to be tested for such certification after completing the training. Holding an NREMT certificate does not qualify. Applicants must hold a valid State of Nevada certification.
