Wellness and Prevention Program


The Wellness and Prevention Program supports and promotes strategies and efforts to create a culture of healthy eating and active living.

Current statewide program efforts that impact children, adults, and the Nevada communities in Early Care and Education (ECEs) settings, schools, and worksites include:

  • Enhancing healthy eating options and standards
  • Developing strategies to decrease sedentary time
  • Promoting breastfeeding support
  • Collaborating with local and state partners to promote key behaviors to enhance Nevadans’ healthy weight status

    Guide and Template for School Height and Weight Data Collection

    Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 392.420 mandates data collection of school students' height and weight (H&W). Qualifying school districts should comply with the NRS 392.420 mandate for the 2023-2024 school year.
